Timber Selection & Natural Seasoning
Every creation begins with responsibly sourced timber—primarily Dalbergia sissoo (Indian Rosewood / Sheesham). Timber planks are seasoned thoroughly to reduce moisture content below 10–12%. This critical foundation prevents seasonal warping, cracks, and twisting after the product reaches your home.
Turning on the Traditional Lathe
For our walking canes, square timber stock is mounted on traditional turning lathes. Master artisans guide hand gouges and skews with calibrated pressure, tapering the shaft from collar to tip. For end-grain chopping blocks, dense hardwood blocks are cut, hand-arranged in mosaic patterns, and edge-glued under uniform clamp pressure.
Brass Casting & Precision Fitting
Our decorative cane handles are poured in sand casts using solid brass. Once de-molded, each handle is hand-chiseled, deburred, and filed. The handle is anchored securely to the wood shaft with internal heavy-gauge steel threaded rods, ensuring high load stability and zero wobble.
Multi-Stage Hand Sanding & Natural Finish
Finishing is done exclusively by hand. Surfaces are progressively smoothed from 120-grit through 400-grit sandpaper until the wood feels like satin. Walking sticks receive natural protective wax or spirit finishes to accentuate the rich heartwood grain, while chopping boards receive food-grade mineral oil and beeswax treatment.
